Pay your Council Tax

Pay by Direct Debit

Set up a Direct Debit

Direct Debit is the easiest way to pay your Council Tax, especially if you're worried about forgetting to pay.

Instead of making the payment directly yourself, Direct Debit means we will take the amount you owe us out of your bank account when it is due. You will also be protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee.

Council Tax is usually split into 10 equal monthly payments. However, you can choose to spread these payments over 12 months instead when setting up your Direct Debit.

You can set up a Direct Debit with us by using our service on Council Tax Online.

Before you start, you will need to have:

  • Your Council Tax reference number - you can find this in the top right corner of your bill.
  • Your bank account number and sort code - you must be named as the holder of the bank account.
